Our Cabinets…
We are
frequently asked about the construction of our cabinets and the
materials used. For those people…
Our cabinets are a
blend of American construction methods with European
functionality.
Our Carcass…
Our carcass
(uppers and bases) is constructed using solid 3/4" maple plywood
sides, instead of the standard 5/8" or 1/2" sides that others
use. Our carcass has a 1/2" maple plywood back panel. This
results in a higher quality, stronger, and easier to install
cabinet. You also won't have to paint behind the cabinets. We
use a full spreader, also made of 3/4" maple plywood. Not the
small corner blocks [gussets] that others use. This makes each cabinet a
strong, free standing, high quality unit. Our standard cabinets
have clear finished maple interiors. They look as good on the
inside as they do on the outside. Special cabinet carcass
material can always be substituted. Such as, beadboard backs or
specialty veneers.
Our Finished
Cabinets…
Since we
are a true custom shop, we produce frameless and framed
cabinets. The framed cabinets can be 3/4", 5/4" or 6/4". The rails and
stiles can be in varied sizes and with or without beading. We
typically use 1 11/16" wide. Our drawer boxes are 5/8" maple,
dovetailed, and finished clear. We use European style hardware
for our drawers and doors. The European hardware allows for
precise adjustment. Even after the seasons pass and the wood
expands and contracts, with the European style hardware the
alignment of doors and drawers can be maintained. Our cabinets
come standard with adjustable shelving in the uppers. The base
cabinets can have adjustable shelves or, the more preferred,
roll outs. All of our cabinetry is detailed by hand. We use a
two part conversion varnish that is very durable and long
lasting. We create beautiful custom finishes for each and every
project we do.
